"I love you to the moon and back"

by Amanda Fleet

Well, these are a bit lovely... New to Nero's is a collection of A5 notebooks by "Atoms to Astronauts". I have the Space Exploration one in hardback. The others in the collection are: Astronomy, Chemistry, and Physics. There are both hardback versions and ones with a flexi-cover.

All of the covers have a science/space exploration theme, and there is more science on the inside covers, with some fabulous illustrations of skulls, space modules, the tree of life, etc.

Hardbacked:

These have 180 pages of 100 gsm off-white lined paper, with the line-ruling at 8mm. There's a black ribbon bookmark, but there is no page numbering or back pocket in them. The paper is fountain-pen friendly, FSC certified and milled in Cumbria and has rounded corners. There's a decent overhang of the covers to protect the paper, and the notebook is handmade in the UK. Lay-flat thread binding increases the flattability of the notebook.

Flexi-cover:

Inside these, there are 120 pages of 110 gsm off white fountain pen friendly paper, with 5mm dot-grid and rounded corners, and there's a decent length ribbon-marker in black. Again, there's no numbering or a back pocket. The paper is FSC certified and milled in Cumbria, and the notebooks are handmade in the UK.

The company says this on its website about the designs:

Inspired by reading the original notebooks and papers of Newton, Da Vinci, Einstein and more, Atoms to Astronauts was launched in May 2021, by Chemistry teacher Damian to produce science and maths gifts that are made with sustainable materials and practices and are of the highest quality.

Unable to find anything on the market that was both of exceptional quality and scientifically accurate, he launched Atoms to Astronauts, with three criteria:

1) be of the highest quality
2) made with sustainable practices and materials
3) made in the UK

They would make a brilliant Christmas gift for a scientist (or budding scientist), but they're not just for scientists! They're a really lovely, well put together notebook, with distinctive covers that stand out from the run-of-the-mill, plain coloured covers.
